All things Nikon. Except Ashton Kutcher. He’s not allowed to be mentioned!

Hi Ana, At the end of the day: – the body is less important than the lenses attached to it – the lenses are less important than the eye *behind* the body & lens. It’s doubtful you’ll outgrow either body for a long time, so getting hung up on minor technical specs which won’t affect [...]

Yea Ana I have to agree with Ben on this one,It doesn’t matter which system your using, you NEED good glass to truly exploit the sensors of the cameras,Particularly if your camera has a lot of mega pixels.

      Thank you, Ben and Law.
Indeed, now that I can get a new camera, I am worst than a kid in a candy shop!
I was thinking the difference in mega pixels and ISO were so great but you both are correct: the specs are minor specially taking in consideration what I have started with (both are a huge jump ahead!).

Thanks and I will post what I get when i get it!

      Cheers,
      Ana

I definitely need some help in this decision making: I am finally upgrading my camera (took a little time to save the $$) and have been planing to go from the old, outdated D40 to the D300S. No problem here, until i see the new D7000 with its new sensor and its 16mp! I do [...]

Technical specs do not a photographer make – a good photographer can shoot a far more compelling image with a homemade pinhole camera, than can a bad photographer with the most technically perfect equipment.

Having said that – kudos to Nikon – they really do seem to be pushing hard at the moment.

On DXOMark, the D7000 sensor is in a TIE with the D700 sensor – better even than the Canon 5D Mk II.

    Awesome!

Nikon usually gives Chase Jarvis new cameras to test them out. Here are some of the work he did with the Nikon D7000

In a rather weird turn of events, the D3000 is now at the top of the Amazon bestseller charts. Looks like the target market is rushing to buy the more-than-adequate older model at almost a third of the price! That might be a bad sign. Consumers don’t tend to care about ISO expansion and metal [...]

Seems to be trying to take a consumer sized body style and pitch it against the ‘pro-sumer’ 60D (which it rivals in specs and price)

Rare to see a consumer sized body in this price/feature bracket. Will be interesting to see how it fares.

Interesting DSLR – priced the same as the D90 was, and still categorized as a consumer-level camera but has features from the higher end pro cameras – weather sealing, metal body, 1/8000 second shutter speed, more AF points, ISO to 25,600 etc. And no increase in price for all this. Canon has forced Nikon to [...]

The D7000 looks like a great competitor to the Canon T2i in the consumer bracket, though the pricing is pretty high for a body in the XXXX line. Interesting to see the Amazon top 10 is an even split of 5 Nikon bodies and 5 Canon bodies. (Though still not sure how the #1 bestseller [...]

The Nikon D7000 is right now the #1 selling DSLR on Amazon:

Ive had the Nikon D90 for a few months now and I am sooo loving it. The increased ISO settings has allowed me to capture some awesome night shots. The video mode I’m still experimenting with but its really sensitive and awesome. I still use my Nikon D40 with the ML-L3 remote for some interesting [...]

My Nikon upgrade will be the Nikon D90. Its great for semi professional photographers. Since I’ve pretty much mastered the Nikon D40 and out grown it, I’ve decided it’s time to upgrade to a more versatile camera that i can actually be more creative and have a lot more fun. Since I’m already established with [...]

My first digital SLR just happened to be a Nikon d40. It has served me well in the transition from film to digital. My first SLR was a Minolta Maxxum 300si back in1998 my transition to digital SLR was 2007 shortly after the release of the Nikon D40. I did some research about digital cameras [...]
