Portraits & People: 1 year, 3 months ago · ViewJust wanted to share this portrait I took of my daughter: I tried to vintage it a little (such a fan of Max Wanger !) and this is what I came up with.

Portraits & People: 1 year, 3 months ago · ViewThanks and congrats, too, Ben. It was a shot I took of goat racing in Tobago and I just saw it. They used it as a double spread. They have a set price for the one-time use of an image that size, so it was okay. It was definitely more that Family Guardian gives you for the full copyright ownership of your photos used in their calendar.

When they do something about the Bahamas, they are going to have a trailer-load of great photographers to choose from.

Portraits & People: 1 year, 3 months ago · ViewCongrats man! I’m guessing it wasn’t a commissioned series for you, so I gotta ask – how did you price the licenses? Always a tricky one, so would be good to know (you don’t have to give us the price, just how you got there!) I had some of my work in the December issue [...]

Portraits & People: 2 years, 1 month ago · ViewJust a quick one form an engagement session I shot earlier this week. the couple obviously wanted to showcase the engagement ring, which is obviously a challenge with it being so small. I wanted to stay away from the clichéd ‘headshots with ring hand on shoulder/chest’, so went this route instead. I think it still [...]

Portraits & People: 2 years, 2 months ago · ViewI would love to hear your comments about the picture I posted (Portraits & People group).
Ann
It’s an excellent portrait, the lighting is great all around but particularly on the face under the hat.
James,
On Aperture I adjusted a bit the Exposure and enhanced a bit the vibrancy and others….but not much. The picture to start with was well balanced already.
The face, on the other hand, I Dodged it because the hat had it darker. The one thing I don’t know how to change is that I would like to take the plastic stool out of there.
Sometimes it is hard to have it all in order: either I took the picture or I moved things around and I opted for the picture. The moment itself was very spontaneous: my daughter took her to my closet and let her pick up what she wanted. She came out like this (priceless!!)
Thank you very much for your thoughts: it is much appreciated.
Cheers,
