Quick one from me. Tenuous link in that it was taken through my Jeep window last week.

    iPhone shot.

    Wow!

    Real nice LilNassau!

I’ve never managed to get a lightning shot yet (and god knows I’ve tried)

    Great job!

    Antonio,

If you read the description, this was done with only the light in the room, hence the 8 second exposure on the main shot.

    No flash used.

Hey Eric, I’m not talking about lens correction, just rotating the image so its horizontal – that may mean, with a fish eye that each end of the horizon is lower than the middle, but each end should be the same distance from the top of the frame. e.g. the Fisherman – there’s no fisheye [...]

Great stuff in there Eric, and good to see you on STI!

My only thing (and this is real pet peeve of mine) is to straighten those horizons. The fisherman and sunset shots would instantly improve 200% with that one tweak.

Tonight I trashed a wedding dress. Not mine, of course, but hey, close enough!

A couple of the shots form the shoot:

It’s great to have a chance to shoot a bride and groom without the pressures of a wedding day. Real happy with how this session turned out.

    Right. Bedtime!

The last one is Bahamian model Jeanene Fox. Probably the closest I’ll ever get to shooting an internationally acclaimed model!

All horribly high ISO, but I do so hate the popup flash!

OK, here goes for mine. First, a bit of background: My office is next to a home theatre design and installation company, and they wanted a shot of their in store theatre room and asked me to do it. It was a horrifically tight space, and even my 16-35mm struggled to get a wide enough [...]

Seems our assignments are dying a tortuous and slow death, but I’ll keep going in the hope that we get some activity going. So this assignment is super simple Set your aperture to f/8 and your iso to 100 and shoot something interesting. That’s it! The Assignment will run for two weeks, closing on 6th [...]

Time? Are you kidding me? That’s the first time I’ve shot for ’me’ in months. Seriously! I work 60hrs a week for Thyme, then, if I have a wedding, 20hrs on a weekend. Any time I have left is reserved for hanging with the family.

    Thanks Heather.

Nikon’s pretty good with high ISO on their pro models though, no?

And, of course, a well executed B&W Conversion can do wonders for a noisy image!

(Actually just sold my 40D to a ‘switcher’ – he’s very very happy!)

OK, finally, I get to enter a shot. Not a traditional ‘portrait’, but one that embodies the subject, who *is* his music and guitar, so definitely still a portrait! Exposure: 0.001 sec (1/1250) Aperture: f/1.4 Focal Length: 50 mm ISO Speed: 6400 (yes, really!) Exposure Bias: -1/3 EV Taken during a gig at the Old [...]

Only two entries for ‘convergance’, thanks to Jeremy for posting (I’m not going to thank myself!) So, our new Assignment is “Product Photography” This one gives some flexibility, but also gives us a chance to get creative. Pick up a magazine and look at any ad in there – there’s straight product shots, products in [...]
