Just wanted to share this portrait I took of my daughter: I tried to vintage it a little (such a fan of Max Wanger !) and this is what I came up with.

    Thank you, Ben and Law.
Indeed, now that I can get a new camera, I am worst than a kid in a candy shop!
I was thinking the difference in mega pixels and ISO were so great but you both are correct: the specs are minor specially taking in consideration what I have started with (both are a huge jump ahead!).

Thanks and I will post what I get when i get it!

    Cheers,
    Ana

I definitely need some help in this decision making: I am finally upgrading my camera (took a little time to save the $$) and have been planing to go from the old, outdated D40 to the D300S. No problem here, until i see the new D7000 with its new sensor and its 16mp! I do [...]

    Ben,

I will certainly share the good or the bad news!
I put a lot of love into this one and regardless of the results, I am already happy!
Thank you for all your help: it is not always one can find a person willing
to share the knowledge (believe me, it happened!).

Well, in that case, this is how under-basic my understanding of the software is! I was trying to upload without first exporting and the contest site was taking me straight to my FINDER and I was just picking what was under the existing Aperture file. Well, will try but have a “feeling” (more like smack [...]

    Ben,

Here is my Aperture 3 problem but It may very well be my ignorance about Mac and the software itself. Regardless, it is FRUSTRATING!!!

I am trying to enter an online photo competition, downloading from Aperture: the photo Metadata is within the competition specifications but it seams I am ”getting” the photo from a compressed file, which turns out to be too small.

    More specifically:
The photo must be at least 1,600 pixels (for vertical or horizontal photo) and a maximum of 5 megabytes. My photo is between 2,000 and 3,000 pixels (V & H) and 2.73 MB. But when I do the download the file size is 347.8 KB!!

I have until Nov.30th to submit the photo and I am nowhere near there.

If you can repost this in the actual forum, and not as an update, it would help.

I’ll post help once its there.

    James,

On Aperture I adjusted a bit the Exposure and enhanced a bit the vibrancy and others….but not much. The picture to start with was well balanced already.
The face, on the other hand, I Dodged it because the hat had it darker.

The one thing I don’t know how to change is that I would like to take the plastic stool out of there.
Sometimes it is hard to have it all in order: either I took the picture or I moved things around and I opted for the picture.

The moment itself was very spontaneous: my daughter took her to my closet and let her pick up what she wanted. She came out like this (priceless!!)

Thank you very much for your thoughts: it is much appreciated.

    Cheers,
    Ana

Ah: here is the image info:
    ISO 400, 66mm, F/5 , 1/400.

It’s an excellent portrait, the lighting is great all around but particularly on the face under the hat.
